Tuesdays thoughts
Happy Tuesday gang.
Hope everyone’s week is going well. Or does your happiness depend on England’s result in the World Cup football match tonight? 😂
The weather here in Sheffield is still warm and gloriously sunny, and I’m like a vampire, actively trying to hide away from it.
It’s too bright. It’s too hot. It’s too stuffy. There’s no swimming pool to jump in to cool off ... I am typically British in my complaints. I’m never happy. I’ll be complaining about the cold and rain soon enough.
Thing is, the weather is pretty significant in my health and mood. I totally have SAD (seasonal affect disorder) although I’m not sure it’s something that can be actually diagnosed.
At the moment, the sky is too bright. It causes a pain behind my eyes, which then leads to headache, dizziness, lightheadedness and nausea. The heat helps my joint pain but my whole body now feels swollen. I generally don’t sleep well, but in the heat it’s worse. Tossing and turning all night. covers on, covers off. fan on high but then the dust makes me sneeze. Fan on low and it’s too hot. Windows open and I’m scared I’ll be attacked by insects or worse ...windows closed and my room becomes an oven. 🤷🏼♀️
During the hot and humid days, not only is my general energy levels reduced, but each activity seems to take more energy to undertake. Everything takes up too much effort and, to be honest, I feel so drowsy that I’m struggling to get out of bed.
I’m trying to stay active, setting myself little goals, in the hopes that I can return to work soon. But my expectations are so low that nipping to the local coffee shop for an iced coffee feels like I’ve ran a marathon. I don’t have the energy to stand in the shower, I literally don’t remember when I last washed my hair (it’s been at least a week, gross, I know!!). In my defence, I had my eyebrows microbladed and was told to keep my eyebrows out of water or steam 🤦♀️ ...
Sorry this has basically been me ranting. I hope this at least sounds familiar to some of you, and you know you aren’t alone in suffering in the weather everyone else seems to love.
Anyone have an handy tips to survive the heat. Any products or ideas to overcome the symptoms. Comment below ❤️
xoxo
