Top Five ... Day Six
Hi Gang
It's the day before, the day before ... and as we finish off those little details to make the perfect Christmas it’s nice to sit with your loved ones, snuggle on the sofa and watch a movie.
Are you as strict with films as I am. I refuse to watch a Christmas film before December- but then I run out of time to watch all the ones I love. So today’s Top Five is
Favourite Christmas Movies
These are my ‘must watch’ films for Christmas. Pretty sure I have watched all five every year since they were released (apart from No.1 - I wasn’t around is 1954 π)
1. White Christmas
As I said about the song in yesterday’s Top Five. Bing Crosby and White Christmas are my absolute favourites. I grew up with this film. I love the songs, the dancing the cheesy comedy and, most importantly, the four minutes of Christmas they throw in at the end.
2. The Holiday
I know all the words to Mr Brightside because of this film. And learnt so many life lessons “you’re suppose to be the leading lady of your own life, for Christ’s sake”. In fact, there are so many quotes in this movie that I use so regularly it’s getting silly.
3. Muppets Christmas Carol
I like to think this is how Dickens imagined his story been told. I mean, it doesn’t get much better than the muppets and Michael Caine's singing chops does it? It will forever and always be my favourite Caine film and it’s a must watch at this time of year. Christmas hasn’t really started until this has been watched.
4. Love Actually
Annual reminder that love is, actually, all around us ❤️❤️❤️❤️
5. Miracle on 34th Street
I BELIEVE π
Richard Attenborough at his finest. And with little Matilda, proving once again that I was an inadequate child. The fact that she’s always reminded me of my a friend is also hysterically nostalgic. It’s one of the darkest but most uplifting Christmas films and it HAD to make my Top Five.
Extras (if I can fit them in)
* The Grinch
* Nightmare Before Christmas
* Elf
* Home Alone / Home Alone 2
* Jack Frost
* Bad Moms Christmas
As a side note - I’ve never watched The Polar Express, but if I think if I did it would be in my Top Five
Like always, comment below if you agree, disagree etc. Love to hear from you.
See you tomorrow
❤️
